Mums4Refugees

I am a proud refugee from Cambodia. My family experienced many tragedies during the time we fled Cambodia and arrived in Australia in 1991.

Being in Australia opened up a lot of opportunities for me and my family. I enjoyed studying at school and this prowess earned me a scholarship to a private girl's school. I went on to graduate from the University of Sydney in 2004 and became a registered pharmacist in 2005.

I am acutely aware that not all refugees receive the same opportunities that I did.  Hearing stories about Nauru and asylum-seekers that are blatantly false made me want to stand up and assist refugees further.

Mums4Refugees is a grassroots organisation with over 4,000 women actively volunteering across Australia and over 43,000 followers on Facebook. Our working groups across Australia come together to help feed, clothe and care for refugee families who have newly arrived in Australia.

Along with my team at Morris Care & Advice Pharmacy we hold different fundraising activities, food drives and also furniture and bedding collection to help give members of our local community the best shot at life.
